Our
mission is to provide to the youths and adults of our community
education, training, instruction, and hands-on
experience
in the proper use, safe handling, care, cleaning, and
storage of firearms.
About Us
Organized in 1960, the Belton Gun Club is a
private, member-only Club that provides training, practice, and competition
facilities for all shooting sports for shooters of all ages. The Club is
located on 53 acres in
The Club currently maintains six separate outdoor shooting facilities: a
300-yard rifle range, a 100-yard rifle range, a 50-yard pistol and small bore
rifle range, a 50-yard training range, a skeet range; and a five-stand shotgun
range. Target frames are available at the ranges for member use. In addition,
there is a Clubhouse that is used for board meetings, supper meetings, and
youth shooting activities involving air rifles and BB guns.
In addition to the usual shooting activities, the Club also has an active
women’s program, sponsors two air rifle and BB gun teams, and works closely
with area 4H and FFA groups to promote shooting sports among young people.
Join Us
All members must be 21 years of age or older. To
join the Belton Gun Club, a prospective member needs to attend a monthly supper
meeting, fill out an application form, obtain two sponsors, pay his or her
annual dues of $100 plus an initiation fee of $60, and attend a two-hour safety
briefing and range orientation session the following Saturday morning.
Supper meetings are held the fourth Thursday of every month except December at
7:00.
The final step in the application process is
consideration by the Executive Board. If accepted by the Board, the
applicant becomes a probationary member of the Club. Probationary members have the same privileges as
full members, except that they cannot vote nor can they sponsor new
members. The probationary period lasts for one year. During this
time, the probationary member is expected to be an active member of the Club,
participating in as many events and activities as possible.
At the end of the probationary period, the probationary member’s application is
reviewed and the applicant is voted on for full membership. Upon approval
by the Board and payment of the annual dues of $100, the applicant is accepted
into the Club as a full member in good standing.
